MEBANE — Kristen Thompson-Riley has helped pay for $9,707 worth of school lunches.
In 2014, she founded Operation Wink, a campaign to raise money to cover student lunch debt for schools in the Mebane area, as a way to honor her late father through a day of doing good deeds.
“March 20, 2014, was the 20th anniversary of my father’s passing, and every year I’ve dreaded the date on the calendar, so I made a decision to figure out how to make it a positive day that I look forward to,” she said.
